Install & first run
Shrynk ships as a Windows 64-bit installer. The same app contains the ConvertET conversion registry and the video compressor. You do not install two products.
Requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit |
| Runtime | Microsoft WebView2 (usually already on Windows 10/11) |
| RAM / disk | 4 GB RAM minimum; ~200 MB for the app, more for large video jobs |
| FFmpeg / FFprobe | Bundled next to the app. Audio, video convert, and compress use this copy first. |
| Calibre | Optional. Needed only for EPUB / MOBI / AZW3 / FB2 ebook jobs. Install Calibre and keep ebook-convert on PATH, or those cards stay disabled. |
Install
- Download Shrynk-v1.1.0-amd64-installer.exe.
- Run the installer. Accept the location (default is fine).
- Launch Shrynk from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
The installer is free. You can convert a single file and compress a video up to 100MB without paying. Unlock Pro later from inside the app or from soft-sell pricing.
First conversion
- On the home screen, stay on Convert.
- Filter by category (Data, Image, Document, Audio, Video, Ebook) or search a format name.
- Click a pair such as
webp → jpgormd → docx. - Drop a file or use Browse. The options panel on the right only shows settings that pair supports (JPEG quality, CSV delimiter, audio bitrate, and so on).
- Choose an output folder if you do not want files next to the source.
- Start the job. Progress is per file. History keeps the last runs so you can reopen the output folder.
If the pair is greyed out, you are missing an optional tool (almost always Calibre for ebooks) or the source extension does not match that pair.
First compression
- Switch the app to Compress.
- Drop one MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, or WebM.
- Pick Quality preset (Low / Balanced / High → CRF 28 / 23 / 18) or Target file size when you have a hard cap.
- Optionally strip the audio track.
- Run. Output is always a widely playable MP4 (H.264 + AAC).
A file over 100MB on Free opens the paywall. That is a license check, not a crash. The same job runs after you activate Pro. Details: Video compression and Free vs Pro.
Browser preview
If you do not want to install yet: convert one still in the tab (canvas, about 25MB), or compress one clip under 100MB with ffmpeg.wasm. The preview does not batch, does not convert audio/video/ebooks, and will not take a 4K camera dump that blows past tab memory.
